Banning certain users of social media are the "actions of a totalitarian government rather than a democracy,” according to a letter published in chronicleonline.com.
Letter author Steven Garrison asked Rep. Ralph Massullo to back legislation that would keep these social media companies from doing business with the state of Florida.
“I am urging you to support legislation that would prohibit Florida state government from investing any state-controlled monies in companies that are effectively silencing President Trump and conservatives,” Garrison wrote. “These companies would include Facebook, Twitter, Amazon, and any other company that hinders the ability of law-abiding Florida citizens from communicating in a free and open forum without fear of retaliation or censure.”
According to Garrison, these giants are “leaving all conservatives without a viable way to communicate with President Trump as well as with each other.”
Social media companies have suspended the accounts of thousands of users, most notably those of former President Trump. The censorship came after the Jan. 6 mayhem in D.C.
An alternative social network, Parler, which is popular with conservatives, was suspended by Amazon, Google, and Apple.
